PL 12|20 Laser Cutter

Laguna Tools has been providing the woodworking industry with innovative machinery since 1983. With an already outstanding lineup of automated, industrial, and classic machinery, it would be easy for us to rest on our laurels. But that isn't who we are!

Our team members' passion drives us to continually find solutions and help build new success stories for our customers. Heading into our fifth decade in business, we have maintained the same quality, accuracy, and safe products that solve simple and complex manufacturing issues. And we do all of this with responsive customer service that focuses on our customers and their needs.

As we continue to challenge the industry with new advancements, we are proud to introduce our latest Laguna family member of high-quality machinery: The PL 12/20 Laser Cutter.

What makes the Pl 12|20 different from other CO2 Lasers?

Since Laguna Tools currently has five models of CO2 laser engravers that offer excellent value for the price and engrave intricate designs quickly and accurately, it begs the question: Why did we create another laser machine? What does this machine do better, and what issues does it solve?

The short answer is that the PL12|20 keeps our philosophy of continually raising the bar with our products. The redesigned PL12|20 comprises a network of precision components such as a 40-watt laser that can quickly accomplish complicated inlay techniques or engrave lithography in almost any non-metallic materials perfectly.

Our newest CO2 laser model cuts elaborate designs in wood, acrylic, and many other materials. Its 12" x 20" workspace—along with a full 12" Z-axis—allows for large materials and a rotary device. The bottomless design makes it possible to take on larger projects such as tabletops and murals.

Here are just some of the outstanding features of the PL12|20:

RECI 40W Laser Tube

The RECI Laser tube provides optimal laser output power density, concentrated light beam, uniform light spot, highest working efficiency, and highest cutting speed. Each tube has approximately 15,000 hours of working life.

U.S. II-VI Optical Lenses

II-VI Incorporated is a global leader in optoelectronics and has an extensive portfolio of optics. Their expertise includes diamond turning technology, magnetorheological finishing (MRF), and IBS coatings. II-VI's innovative products are part of our newest CO2 laser.

HIWIN HG Linear Guide Rails

The HG series linear guideways are designed with load capacity and rigidity higher than similar products with circular-arc groove and structure optimization.

It features equal load ratings in the radial, reverse radial, and lateral directions and self-aligning to absorb installation-error. The HG series linear guideways achieve long life with high speed, high accuracy, and smooth linear motion.

Automatic Focusing

Autofocusing is what makes the laser head move so quickly and easily. While other models use a spacing block to adjust the focal length by hand, our bed moves up until the workpiece hits the limit switch, so the focal length is always set at the exact height.

Additional features that set the PL12|20 apart from the others

The benefits of the PL12|20 do not end here. As a matter of fact, there is much more. There is a stepper motor from Leadshine Technology Company, a developer and manufacturer of high-quality motion control products for starters.

Our new laser cutter is also Wi-Fi controlled, allowing an operator to work remotely and upload a file to the unit from anywhere. An automatically adjustable working table accommodates odd-shaped stock, a rotary attachment, and different types of mounts.

As mentioned previously, the lifting height can reach 12". Add to these features a red dot refracted beam to aid maintenance, and you can understand why the PL12|20 laser engraver stands above the rest of the field.

Our New M|Flux:5 Fume Extractor

With an impressive lineup of laser cutters that support both the woodworking and metalworking industries, it’s only natural that Laguna Tools would also offer a top-of-the-line fume extractor to provide air filtration for them.

We are introducing the M|Flux:5 Fume Extractor, specifically made to draw away potentially harmful fumes from the operator and the laser machine.

This newest innovation is designed with five modules, held together by variable-tension eye latches, making filter exchanges fast and convenient.

The perfect companion to our newest CO2 engraver, the PL 12/20 Laser Cutter, the M|Flux:5 allows shops to filter out the fumes and fine debris produced by the laser beam.

Using a combination of HEPA and carbon charcoal filters, this highly efficient fume extractor will keep any workplace clean and safe.

Here is how it works and why you need it:

Laser fumes may be hazardous

Laser fumes are produced when a high-energy laser beam meets a substrate such as metal or plastic. The intense heat of the beam causes the material to release smoke and fumes.

As the temperature increases, the surrounding air expands and creates airborne microscopic particles. These particles can become lodged in the lungs and cause ongoing health issues.

Fume extractors capture microscopic particles

Laser fume extractors protect both the operator and the laser machine. For example, the M|Flux:5 fume extractor catches hazardous fumes and particulate before it can enter the operator’s breathing zone or foul the laser system.

It all begins with five intake ports consisting of a central 6” port surrounded by four 4” x 4” inlets. Because of this unique design, you can use any combination of inlets, including 1×4”, 2×4”, 3×4”, 4×4”, and 1×6”.

Next, a mini-pleated panel-type high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter provides 99.99% filtration efficiency. In addition, dual activated charcoal filters remove smoke and odors—one by physical absorption and the other by chemical.

A one-horsepower motor below the filters creates enough high-static pressure to clean approximately 313 cubic feet per minute. And another 0.3-micron HEPA filter at the bottom of the unit completes the filtration process.

The M|Flux:5 fume extractor works well for users in industrial, commercial, medical, and laboratory applications. The entire unit is on casters for portability and includes a remote for convenience.

Summing up the M|Flux:5 Fume Extractor

The M|Flux:5 provides fume and fine debris control for laser systems. Its features include

  • One-horsepower motor creating air volume of 313 CFMs per minute
  • Electrical Specs: 110V / 60Hz / 1PH
  • Running AMP (with 6” inlet) 7A at 110V
  • Fan size of 9”
  • Two HEPA filters (top and bottom)
  • M-3000 activated carbon charcoal air filter
  • M-9000 activated carbon charcoal air filter
